History Of Armenian Korfball


In September 1990 a korball team was opened at Yerevan Politechnic Universiti by Rafik Martirossyan. The players came from handball and basketball team.
In October 1990, POLITECH club (team) participated in the National Championship at Armenia and won the 6th place. The either partisipants were FIMA, SIKOPI, the team of Petagogical Universiti, Brusov and FIMA-II.
In October 1990, training courses were organized and 16 people participated who resived the 1th level qualification.
In March 1991, Politech partisipated in an international tournament and a stydent tournoment in Holland, Groningen-17th place.

1991 National Championship -3th place.
1992 Two Politechnik Team P-I-2th, P-II-4th place.
1992 October International Courses. Partisipants received 2th level qualification.
1993-1995 National Championship 2th place.
1996 Two teams P-I- 1th, P-II-3th place.
1997-1998 P-I-2th, P-II- 3th place. There are 6 teams in the Armenian Premiere League, 6 teams i the First League and 8 Youth teams aged 12-14.
The Senior National Team partisipated in:
the World Championship, Belgium-8th place 1991,
the World Championship, Holland-9th place 1995. The Armenian Champion SIKOPI partisipated in EUROCUP in: The Armenian Champion SIKOPI partisipated in EUROCUP in:

  • 1992 France-7th place,
  • 1993 Germany-5th place,
  • 1994 Chech. Rep.-6th place.

The Youth National Team partisipated in:

  • Europ Championship U23 in 1996-8th place,
  • The Senior Europan Championship 1997-8th place,
  • 1998 Europe University Korfball Championship Weadislawowo Poland-8th place.
  • 2001 European Qualification Tournament(Wormer).
  • 2003 7-th World Championship (Rotterdam) 15-th place.
